April Book of the Month -- 13 Reasons Why
Have you ever heard a rumor?
Have you ever let that rumor influence your opinion about someone?
Have you ever thought about calling so-and-so and telling them how you feel, but you didn't?
Have you ever seen sadness in someones eyes and ignored it?
If you answered yes to any of the above, this book will intrigue you. I couldn't put it down. It's nearly 300 pages and I read it in its entirety in one weekend. (**note**This is incredibly fast for me.) It's the first book written by Jay Asher and it is a keeper.
One of the main characters, Clay, receives a package in the mail from the other main character in the book, Hannah. Inside the package are cassette tapes listing the 13 reasons she decided to end her own life. He is receiving the package because he is one of the reasons she committed suicide.

The book takes you through each tape, through each event, through each moment that snowballed into something more.
It will make you laugh, will make you cry and will make you really take notice of the people you interact with on a daily basis. It will also make you think twice before you spread a rumor or listen to a rumor or worse yet change your opinion about someone based on something you heard instead of something you know.
Just think about what a wonderful world this would be if we all went straight to the source and found out facts instead of fiction.
I urge you to read it.
I urge you to recommend it to a friend.
Finally, I urge you to listen to that small voice in your head and call that someone you've been thinking about.

That's an intriguing idea for a story. Thanks for the review. I will definitely check it out.
I've heard lots of good things about this book ... and if you read it in a weekend, it's gotta be good! : )
