Wake Up
If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.” ~J.M. Power
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to write a book. As a child I wrote short story after short story. Many of them had illustrations. I wish someone had kept them, but alas they haven't been seen in years.
These days my computer is filled with stories.
I used to feature a short story on this blog every Tuesday. I can't remember why I stopped.
What is holding me back?
Why did I write a 51,000 word novel in November and then promptly file it away never to be looked at again.
I'm afraid of rejection. Like most bloggers I thrive on words of affirmation. I want everyone to love everything I do. But let's face it, life isn't really like that. In fact, it is often the words of criticism that help us grow the most.
I need to find a way to get over my fear of rejection and wake up.

I completely understand your fear. It's so common especially with writing. You put your heart and soul into something and it kills when someone turns it down. I wish you the best as you work discern what to do with your dream. Good luck!
I think most of us have a little of that in us. We are so often our own worst critics. Having the courage to put ourselves out there and know that we'll be okay if we are rejected is the first step. Go for it!
I don't know why this is, but...Someone can say 3 nice things about us in a row. Then a person comes along and says 1 negative thing about us and we freak out.
We only remember the 1 bad comment and not the 3 praises we recieved. I guess it really is something a lot of us need to overcome! Rejection is a scary thing. I will work with ya on this one Kisa!
It is scary to put something that you created out there in the world ... but you need to get over it and get that book out that you wrote in November and do something with it!! NOW!!!
I know that fear all too well. You feel so vulnerable when you put your work out there for scrutiny.
I totally understand the fear you have. I'm the same way. many years ago I wrote a children's book/story whatever you want to call it. People loved it, I even read it without the pictures to my friends 1st grade class, a tough group with out pictures. They loved it and they didn't know that I wrote it until after they gave us some feedback. I still haven't tried to get it published. I guess I'm just afraid no one will want to publish it.
Why don't you edit it, polish it and post a first chapter here and see how we like it? I bet it's better than you think. I know I'm my worst critic and you probably are too. Never give myself enough credit.
Keep trying and work on it, post it and then submit it somewhere.
