The Phone has arrived

After much debate my husband and I decided to let our nearly 12 year old daughter have a phone.  After the initial excitement of receiving the phone on Christmas day she really hasn't used it much.  In fact, I'm not sure she has talked to anyone on it, but she does enjoy texting.

Hubby and I upgraded our phones in November.  He went from the free flip phone that his friends often made fun of to the Iphone 4 which in and of itself is somewhat funny and I went from the Pantech Matrix to the Pantech Pursuit

I really like it but I'm still not sure exactly how to work all of the functions.  I learn from doing and not from reading how to do it.  It's gonna take me a little while to figure it all out.

This is the phone oldest G ended up with (my old phone) and so far she has been very responsible with it.  She loves taking radom photos of random things and texting them to me.  I may have to up our texts to unlimited.  LOL

I must say that so far I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of responsibility my oldest has shown with her new technology.

Here's hoping she continues to be responsible.

oh yeah, up that plan to unlimited texts! You'll be surprised how fast they add up. Good thing we have unlimited! My daughter (20 yo) hardly ever talks on her phone, but had over 10,000 texts last month. Yes, you read it right over 10,000!
Me? Still have the flip phone! Workd for me, can talk, text and take pictures. works great!

Definitely go the unlimited texts route. Even I need that one. I'm sure your daughter will be super responsible and enjoy her phone. My son who is almost 14 hardly uses his phone these days.

I am a huge texter, haha. We signed up for unlimited and then limited minutes. It works great for us, but then again, our kids don't have phones yet.

I think it is great she's embraced her new responisiblities ... and stays in such close (but random) touch with you!

And I love your little phone ... neat looking! I have an "old fashioned" non-smart phone. I hope to change that next time our contract is up!

The real question is "Do kids still talk on the phone? Or is it all texting?"

The son will occasionally talk, but it is 95% texting. From what I see from his cohort, it is mostly texting or conference calling.
