My love tank is a little low

Don't know what it is, but today my love tank is running on empty. I feel like my kids are growing up way to fast.

Oldest doesn't really like hanging out with me much anymore.

Middle daughter is so moody; it's like she has multiple personalities.

Little G is all about daddy. He doesn't mean to hurt my feelings, but he has pretty much decided that I'm an incompetent idiot.

Summer isn't even here yet and I feel it slipping away already.

School doesn't let out till June 10th! Ouch.

Middle G's birthday party is the weekend after school is out; we will be bombarded with company no doubt.

My mother wants to take the girls for a few days while she is on vacation. Why can't she just hang out with all of us.

But alas, the girls want to go and I'm sure fun will be had by all. Me and little G can hang out, at least until daddy gets home and I become invisible.

Oldest leaves for church camp for five nights on Father's Day weekend.  It is the longest she will be away without talking to us everyday.  She is so excited.

I am feeling sad.

I'm sending you a big hug :) I think my kids are growing up fast too. Today, I sat on the couch next to my 12 year old son. I just wanted to hang out with him a few minutes. He looked at me like, "O.k. Mom what do you want?" I guess those snuggle days are over.

This casual treatment means they love you enough to be casual. Don't worry, rewards will be heaped on you when you least expect them. Know that they love you lots.

Oh sweetie, don't be sad. At the end of the day, throughout their lives it will always be mommy they turn to for advice/cuddles/clean washing/good food - you just have to get over the growing up bit first.

Wen,
Don't think of it as then not wanting to spend time with you...think of it as well deserved time for you to do whatever you want, given by sweet children who know how much you love them and are confident in their relationship with you!

Hugs!

Look at it as them spreading their wings. Part of being a parent that I think men have an easier time with is the whole wing spreading thing. Dads can't wait to see kids start becoming independent - but mom's seem to feel sad and threatened by it.

It will get better.
