Hump day craft post : holiday wreath

At the end of the school year last year one of the teachers in our building gave me a huge stack of holiday scrapbook paper.

As a gift, I am taking that paper and making a wreath for her. Shhhh.... It is a secret.

If you wanna make it you need A LOT of 6 inch by 1 inch strips looped and stapled. Then you STAGGER the loops on a styrofoam wreath.

Staggering is very important or your wreath will look odd. Trust me. This project takes a lot of hot glue and when you are done you will have finger burns to prove you have made it yourself.

Total time to cut, loop, staple and glue is about 3 hours.

If you make one leave me a link.

Hump Day Craft Post: Teacher gift-Disney Album

I made this scrapbook for my son's teacher as an end of the year gift. She went to Disney earlier in the year with her family and I thought she would appreciate the gesture.

Some of my friends request teachers for their children.  Perhaps an older sibling had that teacher or maybe they just heard great things about them. I don't do that. I've never requested a teacher for any of my children.

I might request someone I think would be most awesome only to find out that my son would have done better in a totally different atmosphere.  I am very happy he ended up in the 1st grade class he ended up in.  It was exactly what he needed.  How exciting is it that he is looping to 2nd grade with the same teacher?  She knows his strengths, his weakness, she knows exactly where he is at.

Over the course of the school year she went from being just my kid's teacher to becoming my friend and I couldn't be happier that he will have her again.

Let me know if you are posting a craft today.  I'd love to pop over and visit.

Hump Day Craft Post: teacher flower pots

We are finishing up teacher gifts in our house.  Each of my three kids made four of these.  They had a surprising amount of fun making them...even my 12 year old.  Above is my son working on the one he made for his teacher.  He messed one of them up (the paint ran a little) and he wasn't happy.  He couldn't even think about giving her that one.  We had to buy a new one so he could start again.  He's such a gentle, caring soul.  I hope he is always like that.

Oldest got super creative with hers.  I think the flowers are very impressive.  She decided that she was giving all of hers to the lunch ladies.  It's hard with her lunch lady  mama to argue with that.

Middle daughter took just as much time with hers as youngest.  She went so far as to decorate one with her teacher's favorite football team logo and colors.

Here's what they looked like all wrapped up and ready to go.  The tag said, "Thanks for helping me grow."

If you are posting a craft, leave me a link.  I'd love to pop over and visit.

Hump Day Craft Post: a handful of flowers

Our district is shuffling some teachers around. I hate when that happens. I made this bouquet for one of the teachers leaving our building. It has the handprints of all of her students made into flowers. I painted pawprints onto the vase. The tag said: we love you and we'll miss you.

Thanks for visiting. If you are posting a hump day craft let me know

Hump Day Craft Post - end of the school year gifts

I enjoy giving gifts.  I like making things.  Oldest likes to give gifts too.

My oldest daughter is in the sixth grade and still wants to give her teacher an end-of-the year present.

So we made these thank yous.  I'm not entirely thrilled with the stitching, but I think that makes them even cuter.

The apple is a cut from the Doodlecharms cricut cartridge.  It is an older cart, but still one of my favorites.  The face stamp is from peachykeen stamps and if you haven't been to Kathy's site, you are missing out!

Oldest also wants to make something for all four of her lunchladies...it is hard for a lunchlady to say no to that.  :-)

Are you working on anything for the end of the school year? Leave me a link so I can come over and see it.

A few things I have been working on

For the last few weeks I've been working on end of the year presents. I think I put too much time and effort into them as I'm not sure anyone cares if they get anything at the end of the year. However, my kids enjoy giving them and I guess that's what really matters.

The card sets have 12 cards in them. I thought I would share them with you over the next couple of days.

The cow was cut using the Create a Critter cricut cartridge; The inside says Moochas Grassias.

Blogger irates me when it rotates my pictures for no reason at all. This penguin was also cut with Create a critter and the sentiment inside says: Some of my best friends are flakes.
Only 1 1/2 days of school left. I'm really excited.
What have you been working on?

Preschool Teacher gifts

Here are the cute little gift bags my son gave to his preschool teachers. We put a $5.00 Borders gift card in them and he colored the bookmarks and signed his name to them. He was soooo excited to hand them out.
This is the card I made for his teacher. She also taught my middle daughter. The outside says Thank you so much and the inside says "for helping me grow".

If you look closely, you can see my son jumped into the picture with my daughter on the left. He still had a binky and looked so little and the photo on the right shows how much he has grown.

This is the card we made for the classroom helper/assistant. It also has the same picture I took last week in it.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fantastic Wednesday!

Busy hands, busy mind

I find if you want to take you mind off of things, the best thing to do is craft. Here is a photo of the popcorn boxes I made using TBBM. They are cut at 5 inches. The matching tag is cut at 2 inches. Sorry about the quality of the picture. Inside are a half dozen homade chocolate coins. They are my kids favorite...white chocolate with peppermint on top.

These are the teacher cards I'm working on. They have been well received in the past, but as you can see from the photos there is an endless amount of them. A problem that occurs when you have three kids, some with more than one teacher.

I'm all about useful or edible presents. The cards will get some stitching tomorrow and I'll post pictures of the finished product.

This is a retired Close to My Heart stamp; It's from a school set. The Thank You stamp is from a clear thank you set; the name of both the these is escaping me, if I remember I'll post it some other time.

Just think...pretty soon I can start on the bus driver sets. LOL
