Update on the Hail Storm of 2010

As you know Mother Nature is a fickle bride or so I've read in a poem or two. Last March we had a hail storm that took us a little by surprise. Neither my husband nor I had ever shoveled hail before and though we heard it came in golf ball size this was the first time we ever saw it. It was like free dippin' dots from heaven. However those dippin' dots were a little destructive.

We figured we wouldn't see it again in our lifetime.

Then May 14th rolled around and we saw something new. Baseball size hail.

When it comes in the baseball size variety it's even more destructive. It slashes the shingles on your newly shingled roof. It punches holes in screens and siding. It dimples your vehicles.

In an ironic twist of fate, this year our insurance company sent an adjuster that was pleasant and easy to work with. He approved the damage in an acceptable amount in less than a week. Last time we had to argue and fight about the roof but this hail storm he offered no argument--no resistance.
Of course, this time the same contractors that couldn't believe the roof wasn't approved last time can't believe the roof was approved this time.
It's an Alanis Morrisette song for sure.

Both vehicles suffered damage too. Last time we had them both in the garage. This time we weren't as lucky.

Here's to no more hail for at least a few years!

Weekend Update: back from the beach

We are back from our beach trip. Reality slaps you in the face and wakes you up as soon as you get home. I have to say that I look forward to these trips so much and they are worth every penny!

They are better than therapy! Seriously.

We laughed so hard our faces hurt.

We scrapbooked. We drank.

We sang.

We sat in the sun..BY THE POOL.

We got sunburned.

It was wonderful. Refreshing. Rejuvenating.

While we were away. The hail came AGAIN! I'll post some pictures of that tomorrow.

We just had the siding replaced. The roof redone and the fence painted. This time...both our cars were out in it.

This is gonna be a blast.

Holy HAIL! - pictures from our freak hail storm

I should preface this post by saying shortly before this mamoth hail storm, I took all the kids and the dog to the park to ride bikes.  If we had not left when we did, we would have been caught in this mess.  The thought is really terrifying to me as I'm sure these hail balls would have really hurt us and I don't know where we would have hid.

This is my yard.  If you look closely you can see each individual hail ball.  We had to actually shovel our driveway.  That's how much hail we got.

This is the hail that came out of our rain spouting.
This is the hail in my hubby's hands.  He is 6'2".  The hail is HUGE!
This is one of the holes I have in the siding of my house.
It sounded like a tornado.  It was so loud and super intense.  One minute it was thundering, the next minute is was pouring hail from the sky.  Totally freaky...I'm so blessed that I wasn't at the park with all my babies!
