Today is Middle G's 9th birthday. Today was her last day of school. She has been done for less than one hour and is already bored. She is cracking me up.

How can she possibly be bored already?

Tomorrow is her birthday party. We are having it at the pool again. It is a monkey theme this year. Below is a picture of the invitation.



Keeping with the monkey theme I thought I'd share advice for Middle G., who's age continues to sneak up with me.

• Just keep swinging....at the ball, on the swing, everywhere. There is a lot to be said about persistence.
• Bananas are good for you. Eat a balanced diet. Especially if you feel your mood swinging around.
• Remember everyone comes with a few bugs. No one is perfect, not even you.
• Stick with your family. Sadly as we grow we start to take our family for granted. Remember when the going gets tough your family will never leave you behind.
• Have no fear. Take the leap and see what happens.
• Don't pick your nose or your butt in public.
• Be yourself and be proud of who you are.
• Bang your chest and let out a growl every now and then.
• And whatever you do, never throw your poop. Unless your in a forest and a grizzly bear is chasing you.

Here is Oldest with her Percy Jackson cake.  It has Percy and Grover on top.  She helped make it and seemed to enjoy that.  We colored the batter blue because in the book Percy and his mom like blue food.

Tom's folks and my folks all came out to go to dinner with Oldest and to attend our high school musical--FOOTLOOSE.   My mom and step dad our not pictured because they decided not to attend the dinner. 

They brought their gigantic four month old puppy and no cage so I guess it's best if they didn't stay for dinner but this brings me to THE QUESTION...



If you are invited to dinner to celebrate your granddaughter's birthday are you expecting your child to pay for your dinner?

In other words, was it our responsibility to cover the cost of everyone invited?  Keeping in mind that we went to a pricey Japanese restaurant?

My hubby's parents gave him money for their share.  My dad and step mom said "Thanks" and offered no cash.

Is this my fault for not being more specific with the invite?


Should I have made it clear one way or the other?

If you were me how would you handle it?

If you were my dad would you have expected us to cover the cost of your dinner?

I can actually check one this off my list. The invites for Middle G's swim party are complete! This is the simple little design I came up with. Of course, the people are cut from the Paper Dolls Cartridge, the faces are Peachykeen Stamps. I think the paper is all DCWV, though I'm not positive what stack. If I had to guess, I would say the summer stack.

And just because I want to I'm posting this video of middle G and little G dancing. It was totally spontaneous. They dressed themselves in these cute little outfits and came downstairs to "put on a show for us." I hope you think it's as cute as I thought it was. (even if you don't, leave a comment and say you do--LOL)

BTW...I'm sorry that it's flipped. I can't figure out how to flip it the right way.

What I'd like to accomplish this weekend:

• mail my daughter's birthday invitations
• make some cards with my new stamps (Thanks, Enfys)
• Watch the movie Hancock that I've had from Netflix for three weeks. I either need to watch it or mail it back.
• Order some replacement parts for our Hi Ho Cherrio game. Can you guess what is missing?
• Get completely over this ugly flu.

What do you hope to accomplish this weekend?

This weekend was one big blur, but surprisingly I managed to accomplish quite a few things.  Including losing most of my voice the last three minutes of the superbowl because I was screaming like an extra in a horror flick.

My beloved Steelers tried to loose the game.  They did everything in their power to give the Arizona Cardinals the coveted title and trophey.  Thankfully in the last 35 seconds they took it back.  OH YEAH!  Superbowl Champs.  That's right...Here we go...Steelers.  Here we go!!!!


'Nuf of that...on to what I accomplished:

As stated on Friday, my daughters are pigs and I'm not sure where they get this from.  My husband and I do not leave random used tissues throughout our room, we do not eat part of a poptart and leave the rest on our dresser...I really wanted to lock them in their room this weekend and make scrub the room from head to toe!

I helped them, but they did do a good bit of it themselves. We went through the toybox, we went through the books in the closet and we picked up the crap stuff on the floor.



I made a couple valentines, one Easter card and finished my daughter's inviations.

These are my daughter's invitations.  I will post the valentines and the Easter card later this week.  The inside is cute.  It annouces her magical sleepover and it it signed by Professor McGonagal from the movie.  She really like it and she helped make it.

I didn't make anything for my son's teachers, but I did stain my craft room shelves.

On Saturday evening we took the kids to a hockey game and they had a lot of fun and then yesterday we had a superbowl party with a bunch of our friends.  My husband made almost 50 wings in his new deep fryer, but the oil just wouldn't get hot and they didn't get done until after 11 p.m.  Any guess what we had for supper tonight?

The kids (and the parents) are still tired and no one wanted to get up today for school or for work.

I didn't really do too well with my To Do List this weekend.  How did you do?

• Finish two Disney autograph books for my friend, Jean;   I'm happy to say that I did get these done.  Jean's kids and quite a few others are going to Disney in two weeks with their grandmother.  Mom-mom is one brave woman taking 9 kids to Disney.  These are the last two I needed to make.

• 
  
  Maybe go on a family hike, depending on the weather;   We took the dog to a dog park near our house and it was fun to watch him run like a deer, but only my oldest was allowed to go into the actual park.  Apparently, you have to be at least 9 years old.  The signage posted there said that it was a $600 fine if children under 9 were allowed access and since we didn't have $1200 on us, we thought it was best if I said outside the fence with the younger two.

• Find a new Sunday School class that isn't studying David.   I didn't manage to accomplish this.  Much to my annoyance I sat through another hour of poor David.  I left thinking I must have been the only one in the room who would have joined Absalom's army.
  
• Finish my Disney scrapbook and start oldest's birthday invites.  I actually finished one more Disney page done, but I still have two or maybe three more to complete.  I'm hoping to get those accomplished sometime this week, but we shall see.  As for the invites, I didn't get them completed, but I did get them started. 

I'll close this with one more picture.  We are planning a big superbowl party this weekend and in honor of that I decided that Copper needed his own shirt.
