Post It Note Tuesday - Steeler addition
Last January I posted a lot about my beloved Steelers. I posted about their greatness and their Six-peat! I bragged it up quite a bit.
This season there weren't too many mentions.
Probably because we sucked it up a bit with loses to crappy teams like Kansas City, Oakland and Cleveland.
Probably because we lost Troy.
Seeing that Pittsburgh went from superbowl champs to not-in the playoff chumps, I thought I would flash back just 12 short months....
Run Heinz run!
That was fun but now let's get down to business.
Coach Tomlin, I wrote you some notes. I kept them short and sweet.

I know everyone thinks Moore and Mendenhall are the way to go but I'm not a big fan of all the spinning. Just run straight!
Honestly, when you lose I get quite irrated. But nothing is worse than losing to the Balti-morons!
Self-explanatory.
This is totally unacceptable.

Weekend Update: BOB, birthday parties, and good football games
Our weekend was jammed packed full of fun and activities. Friday night we all went to B.O.B., which stands for Battle of the Buildings. Our four elementaries, two intermediates, the middle school and the high school all battled it out for the right to fly the B.O.B. banner.
Our little elementary had quite the turn out and I'm not sure my hearing has returned to normal. My son was beside himself with excitement because his teacher as one of the participates. Maybe next year I'll represent the cafeteria....

This is a picture of our principal running in the plunger/volleyball leg of the contest. That takes some serious concentration.

Our team color was purple and some of the teachers had this iron on on the back of their shirts, which I thought was quite clever and had to take a picture of it. Sadly, we didn't win, but we came in a strong second. The high school won again, which is quite the rip off. For three reasons, they have an entire P.E. department and we have a gym teacher, they have home field advantage as the event is held at the high school, and no one from the high school comes to the event as they don't really care what there teachers are doing...
Next year...we're taking them!

My son's party was a hit and the kids were all very good and not too loud. I think I kept them moving and busy the entire time so they really didn't have a chance to get out of line.
Out of the 12 we invited 9 showed up which I thought was pretty darn good.

Here is little G with his cake. It is the same picture I used for his invitations. I ordered it from Ebay and was very happy with how it turned out. Very easy to do and you can get just about any design that you want.

Hubby's parents stayed the night and on Sunday we went to church and then out to eat at a restaurant showing the Steelers game. Yep, that's right. Even though I live in Pennsylvania I'm tortured with Baltimore Raven games all the time.

The good news...Pittsburgh won and Baltimore didn't. Doesn't get much better than that.

Weekend Update -- Hockey, The Superbowl and uncookable wings
This weekend was one big blur, but surprisingly I managed to accomplish quite a few things. Including losing most of my voice the last three minutes of the superbowl because I was screaming like an extra in a horror flick.
My beloved Steelers tried to loose the game. They did everything in their power to give the Arizona Cardinals the coveted title and trophey. Thankfully in the last 35 seconds they took it back. OH YEAH! Superbowl Champs. That's right...Here we go...Steelers. Here we go!!!!
'Nuf of that...on to what I accomplished:
As stated on Friday, my daughters are pigs and I'm not sure where they get this from. My husband and I do not leave random used tissues throughout our room, we do not eat part of a poptart and leave the rest on our dresser...I really wanted to lock them in their room this weekend and make scrub the room from head to toe!
I helped them, but they did do a good bit of it themselves. We went through the toybox, we went through the books in the closet and we picked up thecrap stuff on the floor.
I made a couple valentines, one Easter card and finished my daughter's inviations.
These are my daughter's invitations. I will post the valentines and the Easter card later this week. The inside is cute. It annouces her magical sleepover and it it signed by Professor McGonagal from the movie. She really like it and she helped make it.
I didn't make anything for my son's teachers, but I did stain my craft room shelves.
On Saturday evening we took the kids to a hockey game and they had a lot of fun and then yesterday we had a superbowl party with a bunch of our friends. My husband made almost 50 wings in his new deep fryer, but the oil just wouldn't get hot and they didn't get done until after 11 p.m. Any guess what we had for supper tonight?
The kids (and the parents) are still tired and no one wanted to get up today for school or for work.
Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you accomplished.

Weekend Update with photos
Wow! My weekend was a blur--a fast whirlwind adventure that I'm so glad my kids and I decided to undertake.
We had safe travel to and from North Carolina. We arrived at my mother's (in Virginia) around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. We had super and tried to get the kids to bed at a reasonable time, but you know how that goes when you are sleeping away from home.
At 7:30 a.m. we were on the road again! I'm happy to say that we made it to my sister's by 1 p.m. and that included a nice sit down brunch at Denny's.
On Saturday evening we went to a very informative and impressively well planned JDRF event that included a meal and some speakers and lots and lots of kids activities.
Here she is smilin' like a girly girl getting ready to blow out her candles. The party had a cooking theme and each child got to make their own apron and pizza and icing their own cupcake. It was a lot of fun and the kids really seemed to enjoy it.
After the party, the Pittsburgh Steelers took on the Baltimore Ravens in arousing game of football. Some of my British friends asked me what I was talking about in my previous post so here is my pathetic attempt at an explaination. As I'm sure you know, our version of football and your version of football vary slightly. This weekend there were only four teams left. The winners of those two games move on to the SUPERBOWL...which is the biggest game of all!
In the area of Pennsylvania where I grew up, the only team worth cheering for was the Steelers. I yell at the TV when they are playing like a crazied woman, often to my children's amusement. Now I live closer to Baltimore and in this area there are quite a few Baltimore Ravens fans. The torture of losing to them would have been....well let's not think about it because....

Part of the JDRF event included a East Carolina University basketball game. Much to my surprise the kids had a really good time. ECU didn't win, but the halftime show was really funny and the kids were clapping and cheering and really into it.
Sunday was special for two reasons: 1) It was my niece's birthday party and 2) It was the AFC championship game.

Things I'd like to accomplish this weekend
Another to do list...yikes. It seemed to work out for me last weekend so I'm going to try again.
- Safe travel to and from North Carolina. I'm driving to my sisters this weekend with all three kids. Thankfully my mom is coming too. We are going to Virginia tonight to pick her up. Pray for some peace and quiet in the vehicle.
- Put laundry away. I'm actually cheating a little. I finally got that laundry off of my dresser! I just did it today so that sort of counts doesn't it?
- Watch the Steelers tromp all over Baltimore. Seeing as I only live a short distance from Baltimore, I may have to move if the Balti-morons win. One thing is for sure, I'm not watching a super bowl featuring the Ravens.
