Writer's Workshop - Seeking Employment; skills limited
This week Mama Kat has some great writing prompts:
1.) What will you be doing now that the kids are back in school?
2.) Things I have learned from my toddler.
3.) What would you put in your favorite things giveaway?
4.) Hi, my name is ______ and I am a _______.
5.) If these walls could talk...

I decided to write about prompt one and prompt four.
If you stopped by yesterday, you already know that my kids start school next week.
When I say kids, I mean all of them. Little G starts all day kindergarten.
Hubby will leave for work and the kids will leave for school and it will just be me and the dog.
So the short answer is I have no idea.
Let's face it there is only so much housework **cough, cough** a person can do.
My name is mommy and I am afraid.
Afraid that I will be lonely.
Afraid that I will be bored.
Afraid that I will miss my kids more than they miss me.
Afraid that I have no real marketable skills. (After all, can you market excellent juice box opener and chicken nugget baker?)
In short, things are about to get interesting....

Yes. I think a lot of companies are in fact, looking for, great juice box openers! You are going to be a hot commodity! Get ready!
Are you kidding me? "About" to get interesting? You already ARE interesting! I remember the days of feeling.... well.... useless when no one was at home. But I've always enjoyed time alone and quickly found ways to fill that time. You'll find yourself. You'll find joy outside of Wife and Mama and realize, hey, you are a great asset to any friendship! Enjoy the quiet. Soak it up. And when your kids get home, you'll be like me and ask EVERYTHING about their day from who they talked to, to what they ate, and all the latest gossip. Kids love to know they are important and their thoughts matter. Our kids LOVED telling me everything. And luckily, the telling me everything still continues to this day and they are past their teenage years. (And I do mean EVERYTHING.)
I wouldn't worry about boredom. More the terror of the increased opportunities for getting into trouble. {*grin*}
Just remember that you will miss both the time at home and the times when they are in school once they head off for their own lives as young adults.
You will find a way to fill the time and darlin' I'm sure you have plenty of marketable skills.
At least you'll get to go to the bathroom without being interrupted.
You know I think I saw an add in the paper just yesterday for a chicken nugget baker and expert juice box opener!
You might be a little lonely at first, and don't worry, despite what they say, your kids will miss you!!
Enjoy this time! Your kids will miss you a lot:) You're so creative and bright. I'm sure you'll find something terrific to show off your skills.
Juice box and chicken nugget test should be on every resume. After all who else can juggle ten thigns at once, tell you were you left your one red sock, feed the dog and talk on the phone ewhile making dinner all at the same time?
Nobody but a mom :)
Bored ... without the kids? Are you nuts??????? Did you forget you like to scrapbook and blog? Or that now you can clean the house 100% faster? And read?? I LIVE for this!
