Lessons from the lunchlady: let the countdown begin

The countdown has begun. Six and 1/2 days of school remain. Here's what I learned this week.
Cornbread should be tolerant, easy to use and consistent. Seriously...what does that mean? How hard could a cornbread mix be to use? Tolerant to those who eat it or to those who mock it? Consistent? Apparently this is important enough to include on the box.

Fire drills in the rain. I was glad my boss was still in charge when we had a fire drill in the rain this week. The fire department was there evaluating our exit procedures and asked what we would do if we had a fire during lunch. Here's hoping that never happens because that would be a nightmare!

Our boss is gonna miss us. Or should I say we are gonna miss her. Who is gonna stop us from using the broken cellophane to tie each other up?

Help wanted: lunchlady with common sense and computer skills. Filling the open spot in our kitchen is proving difficult. Seems no one over 50 likes learning the computer and those under 50 asks me things like "Do you expect me to work everyday?". Um...yes?

VIP breakfast. We had nearly 300 people show up for our annual VIP breakfast. We used to do two events Muffins for Mom and Donuts for Dads but it is much easier to just combine the events and let the kids bring up to two guests. I always eat with the breakfast kids that show up without an adult. This year we ran out of seats and me and the kiddos ended up having a picnic on the floor. It was, no doubt, more fun for me than for them.

What did you learn this week?

I can see "easy to use" on the box of corn bread, but "consistent"? And "tolerant"? Sounds more like the characteristics of the cook!

Seeing the photo of you wrapped up in saran wrap reminds me of that joke of the woman who greeted her husband at the door naked, just wrapped in Saran Wrap and he said, "What, leftovers again?"

Men....can't live with them, can't shoot 'em!

I guess that consistent would be that it is the same every time you make it, but I don't get the tolerant part on that corn bread. Maybe tolerant of being made however you choose, beats me.
Sorry I don't live close to you, I'm over 50 and I would be glad to learn to use that computer however you need me to and I wouldn't ask any stupid questions.
What I learned this week..... hmmmm must be something, just can't remember what it is.
