Ten Reasons Why I Suck at Blogging

I'm having a heck of time keeping up with my blog.  I'm having a heck of time visiting all of yours.  At first I couldn't figure out why, but then I realized that.

  1. I work full freakin' time.  Of course if you asked my husband about this he would say "by choice."  Still pissed off about that one.
  2. I'm still writing part-time for the newspaper.  This might not be the most effective use of my time, but damn I love having a byline.  It might be some sort of sickness that I am having trouble giving it up.
  3. Three kids live with me and they keep expecting me to feed them.  This is becoming increasingly difficult as I haven't yet made it to the grocery store.
  4. My housekeeper is AWOL.  Ever since my BFF got a housekeeper I have been incredibly jealous.  I mean sure she only comes one day, but dang...one day would be fan.freakin.tastic.
  5. I am suffering from a severe case of blog envy.  I've been told I'm funny.  I've got a fair shake of funny, sentimental, crafty and ranty on this blog, but yet the comments rarely come.  I totally love my fan club (they know who they are) and they comment always, even when i can't seem to return the favor because of all of the above.  AND I LOVE THEM!  I just wish there were more of them.
  6. November is filled with what feels like one half day after another.  Holy Moly--there are a lot of half days of school in November.
  7. Thanksgiving is next week.  We're hosting.  I'm most thankful that my husband likes to cook turkey as there is no way I'm touching that thing, let alone eating it.
  8. Is it really time to talk about Christmas?  Ever get the feeling that your kids are spoiled rotten and don't deserve much, if anything, for Christmas.  Is it wrong that I'd just like to get them socks and underwear and wrap up all the shit they don't play with but asked for last year?
  9. NaNoWriMo.  Seriously??  Don't I have enough to do?  Why am I writing another book?  I'll tell you why...because Ally and Sue (the two main characters) won't LEAVE ME ALONE.  For all my non-writing friends, no I haven't lost my mind.  For all my writing friends, you know what I'm talking about.  They show up in your dreams.  They bug you while you're looking for mac & cheese in the freezer.  They holler at me for writing this blog post instead of writing their chapter.  Crap.
  10. PTO is sucking the life out of me.  If one more person complains about fundraising, fall fest, fun fest, conference dinners, allergies, time management, membership, or field trips, I'm going to punch them.
And this is why I suck at blogging.  Sigh.

  1. I think you're awesome and I personally don't know how you do it. As for the PTO--- well most of those broads don't have a clue what you do. You are your hardest critic!!

  3. Number 5. Guilty as charged. I ALWAYS open the link to your blog to read it, which is rare for me to do, even on the really cool motorcycle, cute animal, or social rebel things I enjoy. I am one that takes from your blog doesn't give back. Please don't stop. :)

  5. I am guilty of number 5. I'm a selfish blog consumer. I ALWAYS click the link to read your blog when it's posted on Facebook. I don't even click on all the links for the cool motorcycle stuff, the cute animal things, or the social equality sites I subscribe to. I never leave a comment. I get a lot of enjoyment reading what you write, and never realized I was being selfish by not giving back. Keep on bloggin!

  6. Ahhhh, but when you find the time to do it, you do is so well.
A few weeks ago I was feeling all bloggy and happy and so proud because I was so far ahead. Guess what?!?! All those posts went up and now I'm looking at a deadline that might not be met. I have so much to do and so little time. I totally understand where you are coming from. And I'll tell you one thing, you have more comments than I do most of the time. LOL.

  9. You may not be blogging regularly, but you certainly do NOT suck at it.

Anyway, despite all your listed excuses, I'd chalk it up to those three kids who live with you. Where the hell did THEY come from and what do they want from YOU?!?

  10. I look forward to your blog the most out of all that I follow! Why? I'm also a school kitchen manager, I love to craft, I write occassionally for a local publication (but wish I could do more) but most of all I think the way you describe a life that somewhat mirrors mine is hilarious! Don't ever doubt your funniness!

  12. Well you got a lot of comments on this post so you should be happy! You might have lots of lurkers! : )

I'm sucking at blogging for a lot of the same reasons -- PTO stuff, demanding child. Actually, I have a lot less of an excuse. I think you do what you can and don't worry about it.

  13. Okay...I admit it....I'm a lurker. Is there a 12 step program for that? I read your every blog post. Do I comment? Rarely! Your posts are such a high point in my day. I will try to comment more. I am always afraid that if I comment too much, I'll look like a stalker :) Please keep blogging. You are funny, talented and totally honest about the blessings we receive as over worked, under paid and under appreciated moms!!
