(Disclaimer: No one I work with looks like this. Why do all cartoons of lunch ladies look like this one? Seriously, Why?)
This week at the cafeteria, I learned the following:
- Chili is not a popular lunch item: Peanut butter and Jelly as an alternate nearly beat out the 67 chili's we served today.
- The longer you work there the less you find any child "cute". The janitor and the head cook are fine examples of this. Every kid knows how to push their buttons, as do I. (insert evil laugh here.)
- If offered, kids will take an apple just to throw it away: I'm not sure why but we grind up a lot of yummy looking-not-a-bite-taken-out-of-them apples every day in the garbage disposal.
- You can cut 50 oranges in less than 30 minutes. Putting two slices of each of those oranges into 100 tiny little annoying bags takes much longer.
- I hate cutting tomatoes. In fact, I hate everything about tomatoes.

ReplyDeleteThe amount of food we waste saddens me. Even the amount we waste at home is staggering sometimes (but I am working harder not to waste). Not to mention worldwide....
ReplyDeleteI hate tomatoes, too. I always wondered if kids actually eat chilli at school. Mine sure won't eat it at home.
ReplyDeleteHA! I love that little cartoon. I wonder why the universally accepted view of a lunch lady is something similiar to that? I always loved the lunch ladies and was super nice so that maybe I could get a little more :-P

ReplyDeleteKids and eating is always strange. The MIL was a lunch lady for a number of years and the tales she tells can curl what's left of my hair.
