Writer's Workshop: How did you get your name?

Mama Kat asked and I answered:

My name is Wendy and my parents were dorks. They thought The Association was saying Wendy, when, infact, they were saying "Windy". You think they could have figured that out by the title.

But alas, it isn't the only thing they got confused....others involve priorities, mariage vows, and the ability to be civil to each other. Of course, these matters should most likely be saved for another post.

How did you get your name?

  1. You are too funny. My name means Rainbow, literal meaning in Welsh, so heaven alone knows how my parents got there - maybe I should be grateful there wasn't a tornado around at whatever earth-shaking moment prompted their madness

  2. HAHA! I like that!

I think my parents randomly chose Rebecca but my middle name (Suzanne) is after my mom's cusin/best friend, Paula Suzette, who died in a car accident.

  3. That's awesome. I didn't know you were named after a song! Julie had it right, She called you Windy all the time. Is that an Ohio thing? Es for Is?
In my family almost everyone in named after someone else. I was named after my moms only sister Jean. I like it. :) I like you name too by the way. I think you look like a Wendy.

  4. So short yet so funny. "Everyone knows its Windy ... but not Wendy's parents!"

  5. Ya know, I think that I thought it said Wendy too. Hmmm...

So apparently my mother named me after Laurie from Little Women. Yep, Laurie was a boy. Nope, I am not. Hmmmm...
